In October 2018, CFOSAT (China-France Oceanography SATellite) will be placed into Earth Sun-synchronous orbit at an altitude of 520 km to study ocean surface winds and waves. These data will enable more reliable sea-state forecasts and yield new insights into ocean-atmosphere interactions.
